Mais um ano, mais uma temporada de prémios na 7ª Arte, mais 24 vencedores nas 24 categorias dos Óscares.
Este ano, o filme que arrecadou mais prémios foi Mad Max: Fury Road, com 6 Óscares. Contudo, este não foi o único grande vencedor da noite. The Revenant venceu os Óscares de Melhor Fotografia, Melhor Actor para Leonardo DiCaprio (finalmente!!!) e de Melhor Realizador, com Alejandro G.Iñárritu a vencer pela segunda vez consecutiva nesta categoria, feito que não era conseguido há bastante tempo. Por outro lado, Spotlight venceu os Óscares de Melhor Filme e Melhor Argumento Original.
Como principais surpresas da noite, Sylvester Stallone foi derrotado por Mark Rylance na categoria de Melhor Actor Secundário, e o filme Ex Machina, com apenas duas nomeações, venceu o Óscar de Melhores Efeitos Visuais contra outros filmes que pareciam ter mais hipóteses. Star Wars: The Force Awakens (5 nomeações), Carol (6 nomeações) e The Martian (7 nomeações) não receberam nenhum Óscar.
